Please join alumnae, family and friends for an engaging afternoon. Learn the art of Ikebana at a private one hour Japanese flower arrangement demonstration by renowned Ikebana master, Anna Nakada ’59, followed by a 45 minute tour of museum galleries. Perfect way to learn unique flower arranging for the upcoming Spring holidays. Meet between 1:30 & 1:45 at Admission Desk for the 2 p.m. demonstration. Coffee, tea & cookies provided.
Anna Nakada, President of Ikebana International from 2001-2002, has been a student of Ikebana as of her expatriate stay in Tokyo, 1990-2001. Since returning to NJ, she has been teaching & demonstrating Ikebana in NJ, PA, NY, DC, FL, Guatemala City and Montreal & held three demonstrations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Newark Museum is the state's largest museum with American, contemporary & decorative art; jewelry; natural sciences; arts of Asia, Global Africa, the Americas, the ancient Mediterranean; Tibetan Buddhist altar; Victorian Ballantine House; planetarium; interactive science exhibits & MakerSPACE. On-site parking ($9).
